A Private Resort Born From a Lake House
The Barn at Smith Lake began the way the best things usually do: as a personal passion project.
The Glass House was built first, a 5,500 square-foot architectural masterpiece designed by Christopher Architecture & Interiors, wrapped almost entirely in glass, sitting above the water of Lewis Smith Lake on a private lot surrounded on all sides by the lake. It was designed as a private home. It was nominated for House of the Year by Arch Daily, the world's most-visited architectural website. And guests who saw it immediately asked if they could host events there.
From that single request, The Barn at Smith Lake grew, a dedicated event barn, four additional lakefront homes, a hospitality team, and 200+ events later, into what it is today: the Southeast's most complete private waterfront retreat experience.

"The venue, with its modern lodging and stunning views, exceeded all expectations. We booked the entire property — some guests arrived by boat. It was truly the perfect weekend."
The Team

With a career built entirely in hospitality and over 200 events coordinated at The Barn, Shelly is the soul of the resort experience.
She is the reason her name appears in nearly every five-star review. For destination guests traveling from Atlanta, Nashville, or further, she functions as planner, coordinator, concierge, and calm presence all at once.

Brittany runs the day-to-day operations of the entire property — all five homes, both venues, all logistics.
Her work is what makes the resort model function at the standard guests expect.

Ben keeps every inch of the 40-acre property in immaculate condition. His work is invisible when it's done right. At The Barn, it's always done right.
